Animal House Productions and Lost Sugar Disco, LLC. spent this past year developing an extensive business plan and model for a new music venue and performance arts center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We specifically focused our energy on the Southern Market Building in downtown Lancaster City, which was up for receiving proposals by the Lancaster Redevelopment Authority.

Unfortunately, We found out last week we did not receive the building. Lancaster City has decided to go with Lancaster Equity and return the Southern Market Building to its roots as a food market and additionally a restaurant and office space. We wish those involved in that endeavor the best!
Although we were not granted the opportunity to purchase the Southern Market building, we are extremely proud of how much we accomplished this year! We are proud of how far we came along in the review stages in the RFP process with Redevelopment Authority and the local government of Lancaster City. The level of complexity this proposal endured was no easy task and we ended up placing 2nd out of three concepts in the final decision by Lancaster City! That feels empowering to two artists turned business persons!

While this news was initially very disappointing, we wholeheartedly believe our vision and a new venue is needed in Lancaster City and for our universal vision. We are moving forward and beginning to strategize our next steps to bring our plans to attainment. We are focused to bring Lancaster, PA a progressive, safe space, large capacity venue that embraces all varieties of the performance arts. We will continue with our vision and dream for ourselves, you and the community as a whole.
We are currently looking for a new building as we work with a team of real estate agents and investors. If you hear of an idea, a conversation, or a place that aligns with the energy we are cultivating, please reach out to us! We are looking forward to seeing where opportunities arise for us and where we will find our mission come to life in our community and city.
We will release our project plans, mission, and vision to the public into the New Year as we regroup and reevaluate our current work. We will keep you up to date as we continue to progress in this venture and journey on finding a HOME.

Thank you all for your love and support this year! Thank you to everyone that assisted us at any capacity with our business plans this past year that includes Redevelopment Authority of Lancaster, Lancaster City, Randy Patterson, Matt Johnson, Mayor Danene Sorace, Charlotte Katezenmoyer, Jason Wynn, Lyle Hossler, Crystal Weaver, Richard Puleo, DJ Gress, Daniel, Jim, Angel at Community First Fund, Sarah Holden, Mike Baker, Lucy Sarah, Debbie Brubaker, Julia Schuller, Aaron Rupp, Michael Brubaker, Monica Giles, Hope Brown, Rich Ruoff, Gregg Barley, Fritz Gomez, Donald and Dino at Warfel Construction Company, David Ginolfi, Jeff and Lisa Davis, Michelle Johnsen, Tifani Truelove, Josué Cañas, Richard Bidgood and Eric Parker at Score Lancaster, Joe Meschede, Daniel M. WHAT HAVE WE’VE BEEN UP to?

Published: Thursday, October 4th, 2018

A week ago Animal House & Lost Sugar Disco, LLC. presented their business proposal to a board of directors of Lancaster City and Lancaster Redevelopment Authority about taking over the Southern Market Building in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania!

Our plans are to transform this building into a venue with multi-stages, performance arts center, artist studios and an elixir ceremonial tea bar for our community.
We are focused on creating a conscious temple filled with radical ways of thinking, creating and being in the artist and music industry. A conscious temple offering space and stages for women, people of color and the queer community. As well as the first nightlife establishment in our city where we will offer non-alcoholic beverages to our guests.

We spent nine months working on this project, about five years talking about it and one decade dreaming about it! Now, we are waiting to hear back from City of Lancaster, PA Government and Danene Sorace, Mayor of Lancaster on their final decision on what business and concept shall occupy this beautiful historic building.
Keep us in your thoughts for the next 2-4 weeks! We would Love to call the Southern Market Building our Home and we would Love for you to be a part of it.
We absolutely believe Lancaster needs more venues in the city limits and affordable artists studios in the downtown area. We truly believe WE belong there and that YOU belong there too.

We’ve Been Pretty Quiet Lately!

Photography by Mollie Swartz

We've been pretty quiet lately! Which is very unusual for us! Quite a few opportunities have landed in our hands as well as some major shifts.
We're spending most of our days and nights and all of our energy focusing on our destiny. The time remaining from that we set aside for our own self-care and mental health.
What exactly is our destiny? Our very own Temple for performing arts here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania!

As of right now, we are doing very few events this summer to dedicate all of our time into both of these things! More announcements to come.

We collected 1,037 Arts & Entertainment surveys in Central, Pennsylvania!

We are pleased to announce we officially collected 1,037 Arts & Entertainment surveys from our Central, Pennsylvania community!
WOAH! We made this survey publicly available online and distributed 600 physical copies in the cities of Harrisburg, York and Lancaster, Pennsylvania! We had a percentage of 52.81% male, 41.20% female and 5.99% non-binary individuals take this survey and we find that number absolutely INCREDIBLE!
We learned a lot about marketing, ourselves as individual companies (Animal House ProductionsLost Sugar Disco, LLC.), what we can be better at and most importantly our community’s thoughts, needs, and desires.
We have been going to bed and waking up every day looking at pie charts and bar graphs and we’re glad to say this collection has ended! We are SO, SO THANKFUL for EVERYONE that participated in this survey! Your input was so VITAL and IMPORTANT to us and extremely VALUED! Thank you to our team that went out into the streets and distributed/collected surveys. You are ANGELS!

Animal House & Lost Sugar Disco Company have exciting news to share with the community of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and we absolutely can’t wait to present our vision to you! For now, follow us on the social media to see where things progress and always work towards making YOUR DREAMS, YOUR REALITY in YOUR LIFE.
